Teaching“This was the first year that we added social media education workshops to both our Tapestry and Ageless Pursuits programs. Cathy taught 3 workshops: Facebook, Twitter, and Social Media: Educational or Waste of Time? All workshops were well received, with more than 45 attendees at the first workshop on Facebook. As someone not familiar with Social Media, I found the subject matter well organized, well presented, and easy to understand. Cathy answered questions, and used examples from her own social media accounts to demonstrate how issues such as privacy can be controlled by anyone who uses social media to communicate.”

” Cathy Burrell has been an inspiring mentor for the Taking the Leap to Entrepreneurship Mentoring program at Women’s Enterprise Centre. She has volunteered as a One-to-One mentor and has taken part as a panelist for our Mentor Advisory Forums. In addition to her mentoring contributions, Cathy has also participated as a storyteller at our workshops. Cathy is an enthusiastic person who has a desire to give back; she has a strong commitment to the mentoring program and helping new women entrepreneurs in the retail sector. Our organization relies on volunteers to deliver our programs and Cathy’s contribution has been invaluable to us.”

“The major challenge when opening a new business is learning to manage it’s many moving parts. As much as one prepares, It’s nearly impossible to anticipate and mitigate the unexpected challenges that often test the knowledge, resources, and stamina of a new business owner. Cathy’s expertise in business, specifically retail, provided me with clarity and confidence. Her delivery is objective and to-the-point yet respectful to the fact that each individual needs to find their own way to running their business. She has the ability to provide advice in a way that is a conversation. A discovery rather than a lesson or a lecture. Cathy armed me with invaluable knowledge and incredible insight. With this education she helped me discover the tools to marry the many moving parts of my business.”
